Measure your success by focusing on the behaviours in your life, without using the scale.
7 tips for a healthier you:
- Have longer sleeps.
When was the last time you had uninterrupted 8hrs of sleep? Studies show that not getting quality sleep or getting less than 7 hours of sleep at night can lead to weight gain. - Move your body because it feels good.
Going to the gym is not the only way to be active. Find an activity you enjoy doing. Why stick with those that torture you? Start with something that increases your energy, benefits your mood and makes you feel good. - Add a little more fun to your life.
Maybe it is time to scratch off some items on your bucket list. This may help with feeling good about yourself and increase self-esteem. - Try the Eat Well Plate.
Use this to help guide and balance your meals. - Trust your internal cues of fullness and hunger.
In other words, eat when hungry, stop when full. This may take time to re-master and requires you to take more than 20 minutes to finish a meal or snack. So start by practicing with only one meal at a time. - Dare to enjoy your foods!
When was the last time you took pleasure in enjoying every bite? Or took time to sit down and eat with family or friends? - Give yourself permission to eat all foods mindfully.
