How many eggs can I eat when I’m pregnant?

Omelette on a white plate

This is a question I get asked a lot. And my answer is… as many as you want! Once the nausea is gone, most pregnant individuals can enjoy their regular foods again. Sometimes meat is still a food we can’t eat. So I suggest to add eggs to help keep up with your extra protein and iron needs.

Eggs are a perfect replacement for meat. Two eggs provide similar amounts of protein, iron and fat as a piece of meat the size of a deck of cards.

Eggs can fit in almost any food combination.

Here are a few ideas for adding them to your cooking:

  1. Hard boiled. Eat as a snack, egg salad sandwich, in salads, on a piece of toast or wrapped.
  2. In an omelet, which is a layer of eggs with toppings you like (cheese, vegetables)
  3. As part of pancakes
  4. Scrambled with cheese
  5. In French toasts
  6. As a frittata, where layers of vegetables are covered by beaten eggs mixture and they can be in the size of a muffin or a big plate.

Just remember to always make sure your eggs are fully cooked before eating them.
